Amazon plans ‘Project Kuiper R&D’ headquarters in Redmond
Amazon is building a satellite research-and-development headquarters in Redmond, where commercial real estate brokers said the company is negotiating a deal to turn the former Macy’s store at Redmond Town Center into an office. Last spring Amazon confirmed the “Project Kuiper” initiative, which entails the launch of “a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites,” and more recently said the Kuiper headquarters will be in Redmond. A senior real estate source said Amazon has leased Redmond Corporate Center, a two-building, nearly 219,600-square-foot property at 18340 and 18460 NE 76th St. Paul Jerue, a principal at the real estate company the Broderick Group, is listing the two buildings for sale.
