Amazon has shrugged off the threat from the UK’s looming new digital tax, saying its plans for investment in the country will be undeterred and adding that it might offload such a cost on to its sellers. March 11’s Budget is expected to introduce the “digital services tax”, a 2 per cent levy on UK revenues of technology businesses, which pay little or no domestic corporation tax because their European headquarters are located in tax havens such as Ireland and Luxembourg.
