Amazon.com Services Inc. will now enter a ground lease with Lakeland Linder International Airport for air cargo operations that will create hundreds of jobs. The ground lease, which the city commission reviewed and unanimously approved on May 20, is for Amazon to initially lease 47 acres of a 110-acre parcel in the northwest sector to support its operations. There will be packages coming in and out of planes and trucks, airport director Gene Conrad said during the meeting.
