Amazon Web Services, a subsidiary of Amazon.com (AMZN, Financials), and GitLab (GTLB, Financials) announced a new AI-powered offering on Tuesday at AWS re:Invent.

By including AI-driven capabilities throughout the software development life, the collaboration integrates GitLab Duo with Amazon Q to enhance software development processes and developer efficiency, according to a statement.

By means of a united experience, the cooperation seeks to solve the difficulties of a scattered growth process. Together with Amazon Q’s autonomous agents, GitLab Duo will enable developers to simplify challenging operations, hence maximizing security and output.

A new GitLab Global DevSecOps Report claims that 54% of engineers use up to 14 tools for software development, hence causing inefficiencies. Through centralizing important activities on GitLab’s platform, the new integration aims to streamline development processes. GitLab Ultimate tier clients on a Self-Managed basis may use the integrated solution, according to the company statement.

The solution will let developers use Amazon Q’s AI agents in concert with GitLab Quick Actions to improve the effectiveness of development chores. The agents can create unit tests, translate concept features into production-ready code, and provide AI-driven code quality evaluations. The integration will also let developers adapt older codebases, including Java 8 or Java 11 to Java 17, the company said.

According to Volkswagen Digital Solutions’ product owner, Vivien Kirchgessner, better code quality and less friction in everyday operations might help to increase production. Senior analyst Rachel Stephens of RedMonk pointed out that unified development tools are becoming more and more important, particularly at a time when privacy, security, and artificial intelligence rule.

Vice president of Next-Generation Developer Experience at AWS Deepak Singh said that the integration gives software development AI-driven capabilities, therefore enhancing security and productivity as well as performance. The new product will streamline the development process, according to GitLab’s interim chief revenue officer, Ashley Kramer, assuring security and compliance and giving a platform to speed and automate software development.

GitLab Duo is now under preview with Amazon Q; additional information is accessible on GitLab’s blog and GitLab on AWS.
