Boy meets Congress?

Actor Ben Savage, known for his work on the 1990s sitcom “Boy Meets World,” has announced he is running to fill Rep. Adam Schiff’s congressional seat in 2024.

“I firmly believe in standing up for what is right, ensuring equality and expanding opportunities for all,” Savage wrote on Instagram about his House bid.

Savage, 42, is running as a Democrat to represent California’s 30th District, where he says he’s been a longtime resident.

“I’m running for Congress because it’s time to restore faith in government by offering reasonable, innovative and compassionate solutions to our country’s most pressing issues,” he said.

Schiff, meanwhile, is running for the Senate seat now held by Dianne Feinstein, who announced last month that she will not seek reelection in 2024. Schiff will square off against fellow high-profile Democrat Katie Porter for Feinstein’s seat.

This is not Savage’s first foray into the world of politics. He ran for a spot on the West Hollywood City Council in 2022, finishing seventh in a race in which the top three candidates were awarded spots, according to the Los Angeles County website.
