This is the prime time to shop for tech, if you’re a smart shopper.
With a plethora of tech gadgets and gizmos offered at deep discounts during Amazon’s 48-hour Prime Day sale beginning Monday, it can be difficult to decipher what’s actually worth pulling the trigger for. But tech is where the most deals are, according to deal site SlickDeals. “Prime Day is a great time to shop for tech. When you look at prices on some of Amazon’s proprietary devices, pricing on any given Prime Day is slightly better than the previous Black Friday,” Kristin McGrath, shopping expert and editor for Offers.com tells MarketWatch. Here are eight of the best deals, according to tech experts.
Amazon Echo, $49.99 — 50% savings
Amazon’s AMZN, -0.37% most popular smart speaker streams songs, pairs with a second Echo for stereo sound, enables Alexa to play music, answer questions, read the news, check weather, set alarms and perform more than 50,000 other tasks. Echo can also be used to control smart home devices, turn on lights, adjust thermostats and lock doors.
McGrath says, “This is the deal to highlight. Year after year, Amazon has placed its own items in the spotlight on Prime Day and lowered prices on those items to what they were the previous Black Friday, or even a little lower. The Echo is at its lowest price ever.”
Ring Video Doorbell Pro, $169.99 — 32% savings
This smart doorbell works with Alexa to send announcements to Echo devices and let’s you see, hear and speak to visitors from a phone, tablet or PC. A Live View feature makes it easy to check your front door anytime from anywhere and a lifetime theft protection plan is included if the doorbell is ever stolen. McGrath says, “Anything Amazon makes is almost certainly going to be a good Prime Day buy. That includes Ring video doorbells and security cameras because they acquired Ring last year. ”
Fire TV Recast, $129 — 43% savings
This is a DVR that lets you watch and record live sports, local news and channels available through an HD antenna without paying a monthly fee. This is an Alexa-compatible device and features two tuners that can record up to two shows at once as well as store up to 75 hours of HD Programming.
Apple Watch Series 3, $169 — 39% savings
Apple is notorious for their lack of sales and discounts on their products, but come Prime Day some of their most popular items are in fact marked down. This 38mm, swim-proof watch comes equipped with GPS, an optical heart sensor, a digital crown, an accelerometer and gyroscope, and an aluminum case. With 4.7 out of 5 stars on Amazon and reviews that read, “You won’t know why until you have one,” this Prime Day deal isn’t one to miss.
iRobot Roomba 690 Robot Vacuum, $229 — 39% savings
Connect and schedule your vacuum to run from anywhere using Alexa or Google Assistant voice commands. The 3-stage cleaning system and dual multi-surface brushes work on carpet and hard flooring surfaces and have a 4.2 out of 5 star rating on Amazon. “As of early July, models in this series are as low as $249 at Walmart and $269.99 at Target,” says McGrath, so Prime Day offers the best deal on this smart vacuum.
Instant Pot, $55.99 — 57% savings
This 9-in-1 multi-use, programmable pressure cooker, slow cooker, rice cooker, steamer, sterilizer, saute and yogurt maker prepares dishes up to 70% faster using a stainless steel cooking pot and a microprocessor that monitors pressure, temperature, keeps time and adjusts heating intensity. With 4.5 out of 5 stars on Amazon and more than 5,000 reviews, it should come as no surprise that this is Amazon’s lowest price ever on the Instant Pot according to McGrath.
Breville Compact Smart Oven, $129.95 — 28% savIngs
With 8 cooking functions, Element IQ smart heating technology, enough room to bake a 12” pizza and a backlit LCD screen, this countertop toaster oven will let you cook like a pro. Chef Dean Sheremet is even a fan of the brand’s product range, “Breville has some of the techiest, coolest pieces of gear I have.”
Bose SoundLink Wireless Headphones, $159.99 — 31% savings
Known for their high quality sound, these headphones feature Bluetooth technology, an advanced microphone system and up to 15 hours of playtime with a rechargeable battery. Skirboll says, “It looks like Amazon will be giving customers what they want since 77% of shoppers plan to purchase electronics, including 28% who are in the market for headphones.”
