Add some bamboo to your bedroom.

Bamboo sheets, that is. “Typically during the summer that’s all I sleep on since it can get pretty hot here in Reno. Bamboo sheets typically sleep cooler than sheets made out of silk, synthetic fibers and cotton,” says Matthew Ross, the co-founder of mattress review site The Slumber Yard, adding that they’re also “lightweight, soft and very comfortable.” Certified sleep coach Bill Fish of sleep resources site Tuck.com also recommends them, calling them “quite durable,” with “a soft feel” and “cooling characteristics.” And Mollie McGlocklin, who founded sleep information site Sleep is a Skill, says that: “The goal of sheets/bedding, in general, is to be cool and dry. Bamboo is currently one of the best fabrics for this.”

Even better: the price. “There’s little difference between budget brands and name brands,” says Ben Trapskin, founder of sleep information site Sleep Sherpa — so he says it’s fine to go with the budget sheets. You can score a set — like Cosy House Collection Luxury Bamboo Hypoallergenic Sheets, a budget pick that Ross recommends — for about $40. Here are a few bamboo sheet options.

Cosy House Collection Luxury Bamboo Hypoallergenic Sheets, 4-piece full set about $39

Ross recommends these sheets — which have more than 2,000 reviews on Amazon averaging 4.4 stars — for people on a budget. Consumers seem to love them, with one noting that she’s had 100% bamboo sheets (these are 60% bamboo) and she likes these even better: “I was skeptical of the inexpensive price of these, but they are the best sheets I’ve had! I like them even better than the 100% bamboo or 100% cotton sheets I’ve owned.”

Hotel Sheets Direct’s 100% Bamboo Hypoallergenic Sheets, 4-piece full set about $45

With nearly 2,000 reviews and 4.5 stars, these sheets are a hit with Amazon consumers. One verified customer — who admits “I sleep really warm. I literally have three fans pointed at me every night” — simply says: “These sheets are the BOMB. I have never slept so comfortably.”

Cariloha Classic Bamboo Sheets, 4-piece full set, about $159

McGlocklin highlights this brand thanks to its lifetime guarantee. “We offer a lifetime quality guarantee. If you’re not 100% satisfied with the quality, then we’ll exchange the item for you,” the company writes. Amazon consumers seem to like these sheets as well, with one happy customer writing: “They are incredibly soft and stay cool throughout the night. We will never go back to cotton!”

Ettitude Organic Bamboo Lyocell sheets, full sheet set about $168

Caleb Backe, a health and wellness expert for Maple Holistics, says he recently fell in love with these sheets because they are soft, breathable and can keep you cool in summer.

Of course, not all experts are convinced that bamboo sheets are the way to go. Trapskin of Sleep Sherpa notes that while they “do tend to sleep cooler than cotton sheets,” he’s not a huge fan since they “have a tendency to pill” and they “aren’t really all that sustainable since there’s a lot of chemicals involved in creating the fiber.”
