Dow Drops More Than 350 Points; GameStop and AMC Shares Surge
GameStop shares soared about 30% in afternoon trading after a Reddit account associated with Keith Gill—also known as “Roaring Kitty”—said the meme-stock folk hero had a sizable position in the videogame retailer, along with a big options bet. Stock indexes turned lower in early afternoon trading. Up ahead this week, investors are gearing up for Tuesday’s JOLTS job openings data, followed by Friday’s nonfarm payrolls report.
