US Steel cuts back on emissions as air quality warnings continue

Another day of bad air flow Tuesday over the Mon Valley led to another alert from the Allegheny County Health Department, as well as cutbacks on emissions from manufacturers, including United States Steel Corp. ACHD declared an air quality action day Tuesday for the Liberty-Clairton area after high levels of particulate matter, otherwise known as PM 2.5, occurred again due to poor air quality. Poor air conditions have been reported in the Mon Valley since Oct. 22, when ACHD initiated the Mon Valley Episode Rule that was enacted earlier this year.
