Facebook shares hit record high, surpassing 2018 watermark

Shares in Facebook closed at $218.30 on Thursday, exceeding their previous high of $217.50 in July 2018 and valuing the company at $622bn. The social media group’s shares were on track to open higher again on Friday morning as New York trading began, at a time when the S&P 500 is also at a record high and Apple saw its market capitalisation hit $1.37tn.
