Fake German ‘heiress’ found guilty as Netflix, HBO scramble for her story

Anna Sorokin, who claimed to be a German "heiress" and notoriously mingled with wealthy Manhattanites, was found guilty of charges that included grand larceny, attempted grand larceny and theft of services. Before Sorokin's trial had even come to an end, there were already two pre-productions in place based on her story: a Netflix series produced by Grey's Anatomy creator Shonda Rhimes and another for HBO by Lena Dunham.
