Who Was Thomas Matthew Crooks? What We Know About the Trump Rally Shooting Suspect
Authorities were piecing together information around the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump after identifying the suspect as 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks. Crooks, who was killed by the Secret Service after firing from an elevated position outside the Trump rally venue, lived in Bethel Park, Pa., a suburb of Pittsburgh about an hour’s drive south of Butler, where the rally took place. “If someone would say something to his face, he would just kind of stare at them,” said Julianna Grooms, who graduated one year after Crooks.
