Amazon Prime Video has some movie favorites, a pair of indie darlings and the streaming-series debut of one of Hollywood’s biggest names on tap for February 2020.
Al Pacino has starred in handful of TV movies and miniseries over the years, but the conspiracy thriller “Hunters” (Feb. 21) from Amazon.com Inc.’s AMZN, -1.22% streaming service will mark his first series, and his first foray directly onto a streaming platform. Pacino will portray the leader of a group of Nazi hunters in 1977 New York City, who uncover — and work to assassinate — former Nazi officials hiding in America and plotting to form a Fourth Reich. The series also stars Logan Lerman as the group’s newest member, along with Josh Radnor, Kate Mulvany and Lena Olin, among others. Jordan Peele (“Get Out,” “Us”) serves as executive producer.
Also coming are a pair of acclaimed indie movies: “The Farewell” (Feb. 12), the heart-rending family comedy/drama featuring Awkwafina, who won a Golden Globe for best actress in a comedy for her role, and “Honey Boy” (Feb. 7), written by Shia LaBeouf and based on his life as a child actor who becomes a self-destructive Hollywood star.
Other worthy additions in February include the movies “Bridget Jones’s Diary,”“Ghost” and “Magic Mike,” and the critically acclaimed cable series “Counterpart” and “Escape at Dannemora” (all Feb. 1).
