Little has gone right for Bluebird Bio (NASDAQ: BLUE) recently, but there’s definitely a contrarian case for buying its shares today. Between a temporary clinical trial suspension with its LentiGlobin gene therapy for sickle cell disease (SCD) early last year, and this year’s announcement of a longer-than-expected regulatory review of its gene therapies for beta thalassemia and cerebral adrenoleukodystrophy (CALD), the stock has lost more than 90% of its value in the past three years.
