Inauguration day is here and many people are sending complimentary messages to soon-to-be President Joe Biden, including the 44th President of the United States Barack Obama.
“Congratulations to my friend, President @JoeBiden! This is your time,” The former president wrote in a tweet Wednesday morning.
Biden served as Obama’s Vice President from 2009 to 2017 and they have maintained a friendship since their time in office together.
As of Wednesday morning, Donald Trump has officially vacated the White House and offered some words of encouragement for the incoming administration, although not mentioning Biden by name in his farewell speech.
“I will tell you the future of this country has never been better,” President Trump said. “I wish the new administration great luck and great success. I think they’ll have great success. They have the foundation to do something really spectacular.”
Biden is being sworn in as the coronavirus pandemic rages on. Global cases of COVID-19 now top 96.2 million and the U.S. has now over 400,00 fatalities.
