President Donald Trump’s former lawyer Michael Cohen sounded a defiant note in a published interview as he prepares to report to prison, remaining outraged he was prosecuted and his ex-boss wasn’t, according to the New Yorker magazine.
Cohen in August pleaded guilty to charges including campaign-finance violations for arranging hush-money payments during the 2016 election to two women who had alleged sexual affairs with Trump. Here’s what Cohen told the New Yorker:
‘You are going to find me guilty of campaign finance, with [Karen] McDougal or Stormy [Daniels], and give me three years — really?” Cohen said. “And how come I’m the only one? I didn’t work for the campaign. I worked for him. And how come I’m the one that’s going to prison? I’m not the one that slept with the porn star.’
Trump has denied the encounters with pornographic actress Stormy Daniels and former Playboy model Karen McDougal.
Cohen reports to prison on May 6.
In March, Cohen told actor Tom Arnold that he pleaded guilty to some crimes he did not commit so that his wife wouldn’t “get dragged into the mud of this crap.”

Cohen told Arnold that “they had me on campaign finance” for arranging the hush-money payments, but denied committing tax evasion and called a crime related to a home equity line of credit “a lie.”
