President Trump ‘expressed his intent to render cooperation in the anti-epidemic work, saying that he was impressed by the efforts made by the Chairman to defend his people from the serious threat of the epidemic.’

That’s Kim Yo Jong, sister of Kim Jong Un, giving details on the letter President Trump just sent to the North Korean leader, according to a statement posted by the state media KCNA.

Kim Yo Jong, calling the letter “a good example showing the special and firm personal relations,” praised Trump stepping up when “big difficulties and challenges lie ahead in the way of developing ties” between the countries.

“I would like to extend sincere gratitude to the U.S. president for sending his invariable faith to the Chairman,” wrote Kim Yo Jong, who also serves as a policy aide for her brother.

North Korea maintains that there hasn’t been a single case of coronavirus within its borders, though that claim has been questioned by foreign experts, according to the Associated Press.

A White House official confirmed to the AP that the president, who once said he and Kim “fell in love,” did send a letter that was consistent with efforts to engage global leaders amid the outbreak.
