‘There’s nothing wrong with taking information from Russians.’

That’s how Rudy Giuliani, Trump’s personal lawyer, responded when CNN’s Jake Tapper asked what he thought about Mitt Romney saying he was “appalled” that the president’s team “welcomed help from Russia.”

Giuliani fired back, alleging that Romney accepted opposition “dirt” when he was running against Obama in 2012.

“Stop the bull,” Giuliani said. “Stop the pious act… What a hypocrite. Any candidate in the world — in America — would take information.”

Here’s Romney’s full statement:

Romney was referring to the infamous 2016 Trump Tower meeting where Donald Trump Jr. and other campaign officials agreed to sit down with Russians offering information on their rival Hillary Clinton.

Trump responded to Romney’s tweet:

Meanwhile, Giuliani made the network rounds on Sunday, with a stop on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” where he said the whole Mueller report is an effort to see if the Democrats “can hang” the president.

“The president’s got to prove he’s innocent.” he told Chuck Todd. “They have to be convinced that he didn’t do it. When is that the standard ever in America? How can you prove a negative?”
