‘I wrote ‘won Lottery/retirement?’ and they were like ‘you can’t put this down’ — I think they thought I was putting a joke reason.’

That’s 24-year-old Dean Weymes, in an interview, explaining how he quit his Amazon AMZN, -1.38% job the day after he found out he won 10,000 pounds ($12,150) a month for the next 30 years in the U.K. lottery.

He was working in the transport department at Amazon, and he was taking a break when he discovered he had the winning numbers.

“My break is 15 minutes, but I think I did a break abuse, I think by about 10 minutes,” Weymes told the Daily Mail. “I went back in, sat on my computer for five minutes, and said ‘I’m sick’ and went home.” He came back to work the next day, but only to explain why he was leaving.

Here he is celebrating his winnings:

What’s next? First, he’s going to Disneyland DIS, +0.46%  ! Then he’ll get back to hopefully pursuing dreams that income and freedom like that can afford.

“I studied screen writing at university as this has always been a passion of mine but I have never been able to do anything with this. It was always my dream to become a script writer,” he said. “I love films and the theatre and now I can do something with this! I can turn my passion into a job.”

Weymes also said he’ll now be able to help his brother, who has severe autism. “My parents are getting on a bit now, so it is difficult for them.”
