Cybersecurity company McAfee Corp. announced Tuesday that Chief Executive Peter Leav is stepping down, and will be replaced by Greg Johnson, formerly an executive at Intuit Inc. INTU, -3.34%.

In a statement, the company said the move comes as McAfee transitions to a pure-play consumer protection company. In November, McAfee agreed to be acquired by an investor group led by Advent International Corp. for an estimated enterprise value of about $14 billion, and was taken private about a year after its 2020 IPO.

“Greg brings more than 25 years of consumer business experience at truly innovative, leading brands,” McAfee Chairman Bruce Chizen said in a statement. “Greg holds an impressive track record of cultivating multi-billion-dollar growth strategies for consumer businesses while delivering increasing value to customers. Greg’s proven expertise makes him the leader of choice to spearhead future growth for the company.”

Johnson will take the reins June 13.

“The McAfee brand holds an enviable reputation of trust, quality and innovation and I’m excited to lead the company in its next phase of growth,” he said in a statement.
