A stock split is a way for publicly traded companies to alter their share prices and outstanding share counts without having any impact on their market caps or operating performances. Over the past four months, Alphabet (NASDAQ: GOOGL)(NASDAQ: GOOG), the parent of Google and YouTube, Amazon (NASDAQ: AMZN), and Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA), have all announced their intentions to split.
