Netflix Inc. disclosed subscriber numbers for several different regions Monday afternoon as it moves toward a more detailed breakdown of its subscribers. The streaming-video company previously disclosed subscriber numbers and financial performance for the U.S. and globally, but the company declared that it would begin reporting four geographic segments with its first quarterly report of 2020: The U.S. and Canada; Europe, the Middle East and Africa; Latin America; and Asia-Pacific. In preparation for that change, Netflix on Monday disclosed numbers broken down by region for the past three years in a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission. The breakdown shows that Europe, the Middle East and Africa is Netflix’s second-largest market, and has grown to 47.36 million paid subscribers as of Sept. 30, 2019, from 19.7 million as of March 31, 2017. Netflix has only 14.49 million paying subscribers in Asia Pacific as of Sept. 31, its smallest total of the four regions, as the U.S. and Canada showed 67.11 million paid subscriptions and Latin America showed 29.38 million.
