Pence thanks Apple for donating 9 million N95 face masks to health-care workers

Vice President Mike Pence said Tuesday that Apple Inc. has donated 9 million N95 face masks to health-care workers amid the coronavirus crisis. Apple CEO Tim Cook had tweeted Saturday that the company would donate "millions of masks for health professionals in the US and Europe." Pence made his comments during a White House press briefing late Tuesday, thanking Apple and other companies, such as Ford Motor Co. , 3M and McDonald's Corp. for the "level of generosity" they are showing to the American people. Apple is the latest tech company to come to the aid of overwhelmed health-care workers. Facebook Inc. earlier donated its stockpile of 720,000 face masks, and Tesla Inc. CEO Elon Musk acquired 1,200 ventilators from China and is sending them to U.S. hospitals.
