The retired race car driver Johnny Gray is ready to roll away from his megamansion in Jupiter, FL. Offered for $32.5 million, the 30,000-square-foot estate is the most expensive home ever listed in the area.
The trophy property was built in 2016 by Sebastian Smallegange of Turtle Beach Construction and is stuffed with luxe amenities.
“If you like toys, this is your home,” the listing boasts.
The largest Intracoastal property in the exclusive Admirals Cove neighborhood, the spread offers 365 feet of prime protected water frontage, with room enough to park a megayacht.
Built across two lots, the project took about two years to finish. The size of the parcel makes it a standout in the area.
“That’s very rare,” says the listing agent, Rob Thomson of Waterfront Properties, who notes that only a handful of the 900 or so homes in the community offer the double-lot size.
In addition, he says, “It’s built on a super-high level,” with watertight, mold-proof construction.
It was purchased in 2013 for $7.34 million, and Gray poured millions into building what Thomson calls “a bucket-list house.”
The existing house on the property was torn down and a new estate was erected—with plenty of room for Gray’s cars. There’s also space for a 45-foot-long motor coach.
The air-conditioned garage comes with a car lift, checkerboard flooring, and room for more than 25 vehicles.
Other jaw-dropping details include a home theater built by an associate of George Lucas that doubles as a safe room, as well as a massive bar and game room with an aquarium.
The entry into the massive mansion has a foyer with a double staircase. With six bedrooms and 10 bathrooms, the spacious escape offers an eat-in kitchen with a snack bar.
The layout also includes a family room, plus a formal living room with a fireplace. Glass doors lead outside.
A master suite includes separate bathrooms, closets, and morning bar. Along with electric shades and window treatments, a sitting room with drop-down TV overlooks the backyard.
The property is designed for spending time outside in the Florida sun. Relax outdoors under oversized loggias with drop-down TVs, a swim-up bar with a sunken kitchen, a footbridge with waterfalls, two hot tubs, a pool, and fire bowls, all overlooking the Intracoastal Waterway.
Other luxe details include a gym, a commercial elevator, and state-of-the-art electronics throughout.
According to the agent, there are also “other touches crafted with special attention from the owner.”
Although the home is offered fully furnished, “The cars don’t stay,” Thomson says.
Nor does the memorabilia visible in the bar area. Perhaps the retired speed demon will autograph something for the next owner.
Thomson says that Gray has been spending more time at his other homes, and has decided to move on.
The gated community also accesses amenities of the Admirals Cove country club and golf course, which Thomson describes as “platinum.”
The former Funny Car and Pro Stock driver raced competitively in various arenas. A businessman from Artesia, NM, he joined the professional racing ranks in 1993, and claimed his first win in 2011.
