Gold slips as caution sets in for busy cenbank week

Gold prices edged lower on Monday as investors squared positions ahead of U.S. inflation data and a slew of central bank meetings across the world, especially the Federal Reserve. Spot gold was down 0.3% at $1,792.15 per ounce, as of 1003 GMT. “Friday’s stronger-than-expected US PPI suggested that inflation is not cooling enough, which helped trigger profit taking and another rejection at $1,808, a key level of resistance for gold,” said Ole Hansen, head of commodity strategy at Saxo Bank.
