'Terminator' franchise faces a 'Dark Fate' with potential losses of $100 million or more

The "Terminator" franchise likely won't be back after the lackluster start of its latest installment, "Dark Fate," over the weekend. The sixth film in the series — although it's pitched as a direct sequel to the original "Terminator" and "T2" — grossed an estimated $29 million at the domestic box office, which is not much better than the $27 million launch of "Terminator Genisys" in 2015. The preliminary investigation showed that two unknown males, who were wearing masks, had broken into the home and made demands, police said. The male victim, later identified as Jeremy King, told Bay 9 News that the suspects pointed guns at him, demanded money and threatened him. King was pistol-whipped and beaten when he refused, police said.
