A recall has been issued on select Ford F, -4.40% Bronco SUVs, including some already in customers’ hands and some waiting to be delivered.

The recall pertains to 2023 Bronco Wildtrak and 2022 Bronco Raptor models, and the problem involves a steering-gear part that may be cracked and could affect a driver’s ability to turn the steering wheel, according to a report filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

The report said there “have been no reports of accident or injury associated with this concern.” A total of 343 vehicles are affected by the recall, the report said.

In a statement provided to MarketWatch, Ford said: “On March 3rd, we proactively reached out to 58 affected customers, informing them not to drive their vehicles, and provided them with the option of a loan vehicle. Another ~280 [vehicles] are at dealerships or are held at our plant and will be repaired before they are in customer hands.”

Ford added that most of the 58 affected customers “are now in loaner vehicles and are having their vehicle fixed as we speak.”

The Ford Bronco series remains hugely popular. Ford delivered 97,315 Bronco SUVs to customers in 2022, according to a Fox News report, which noted that the number sold “could have been higher if not for production constraints.”
