What’s the worst career advice you’ve ever received? For Monica Lewinsky, the answer is easy.
“An internship at the white house will be amazing on your resume,” she quipped in a Sunday-morning tweet, adding an embarrassed-face emoji.
“Monica just won Twitter,” more than one Twitter TWTR, +1.69% commenter said.
She can laugh about it now, but Lewinsky has spent more than two decades known as the onetime White House intern whose affair with then-President Bill Clinton put her at the center of a scandal that led to his impeachment in 1998.
Earlier this year, Lewinsky told HBO’s John Oliver that she struggled to find normal jobs because of her past, and has worked hard to shed the stigma. “It was an avalanche of pain and humiliation,” she told Oliver in March. “I’m not proud of all the choices I’ve made in my life, but I’m proud of the person I am. I’m not ashamed of who I am.”
She is now an anti-bullying activist, and — as displayed Sunday — has shown a particular flair for clever tweets, including one in March, before the Mueller report was made public, that some said “won the internet.”
