Tim Cook is donating nearly $5 million of his Apple Inc. shares to charity, and the tech giant is also donating an unspecified sum to help restore the Amazon rainforest.

In a filing Monday with the Securities and Exchange Commission, the Apple chief executive disclosed that he donated 23,700 shares of Apple common stock to an unidentified charity last week. That equals about $4.9 million. Apple shares AAPL, +1.90%   ended Monday trading at $206.49 a share, and are up 31% year to date, compared to the S&P 500’s SPX, +1.10%   15% gain.

Cook made a similar donation of about $5 million last year, and has previously said he intends to donate nearly all of his fortune to charity. Cook‘s net worth was estimated at around $625 million in 2017.

Separately, Cook announced in a tweet Monday that Apple will chip in to help reforestation efforts in the Amazon.

“It’s devastating to see the fires and destruction ravaging the Amazon rainforest, one of the world’s most important ecosystems,” he said. “Apple will be donating to help preserve its biodiversity and restore the Amazon’s indispensable forest across Latin America.”

Efforts to preserve the Amazon also picked up a $5 million pledge from Earth Alliance, a philanthropic fund backed by actor Leonardo DiCaprio, on Monday, as well as $40 million in pledges from G-7 nations.
