President Donald Trump said Tuesday that the next Group of Seven meeting will be held at Camp David, following his October decision to scrap holding it at one of his resorts.
Trump announced the location alongside Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau at a meeting of North Atlantic Treaty Organization members in London.
“We’ll be doing some very special things at Camp David,” Trump said. “It’s nearby. It’s close,” he said of the presidential retreat in Maryland.
Trump had initially proposed holding the G-7 meeting at Trump National Doral Miami, sparking concern from Democrats and Republicans alike that the president was aiming to profit from the leaders’ meeting. Trump said Oct. 19 that he’d look for another location, and said then that Camp David was a possibility.
Besides the U.S., the G-7’s other members are Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan and the United Kingdom.
