U.S. stocks were in the green on Tuesday, amid strong earnings reported from several banks. The Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 0.89% to 27,024, the S&P 500 index jumped 1.00% to 2,996, and the Nasdaq Composite Index advanced 1.24% to 8,148.

Shares of Johnson & Johnson (NYSE:JNJ) jumped more than 1.5% on Tuesday, after the company announces third quarter results. The company posted earnings of $2.12 per share, on $20.73 billion on revenues. The company beat earnings estimates by 11 cents and $590 million in revenues.

Consumer worldwide operational sales rose 1.3% driven by Neutrogena beauty products and over-the-counter products including Tylenol analgesics, international upper respiratory products and digestive health products.

“As we look ahead, we remain confident in the strength of our broad-based business model, which is fueled by our disciplined portfolio management, focus on transformational innovation and dedicated employees around the world who position us for success today and well into the future,” said Alex Gorsky, Chairman and CEO.

Looking ahead the full 2019 year, the company expects adjusted earnings per share between $8.62 and $8.67.

Johnson & Johnson shares gained more than 1% in a year-to-date basis, while the S&P 500’s advanced more than 18%.

In Asia, Japan’s Nikkei 225 gained 1.87%, India’s BSE Sensex rose 0.76%, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng reduced 0.07% and China’s Shanghai Composite slid 0.56%.
