Walmart piloting on-demand drone delivery program

Walmart Inc. has partnered with FlyTrex, an on-demand drone delivery company, for a pilot program in Fayetteville, N.C. The pilot will include select grocery and household essential items. "We know that it will be some time before we see millions of packages delivered via drone," said Tom Ward, Walmart's senior vice president of customer product, in a blog post. But he says the company has the potential to learn about the experience for both customers and workers. The news comes after Amazon.com Inc. announced that it would be investing in the development of Amazon Scout, its autonomous delivery robots.
