From medieval comedy to futuristic thrills, Amazon’s Prime Video has got it all in October, including a full slate of freaky Halloween movies.

Chloë Grace Moretz (“Kick-Ass,” “Let Me In”) and Gary Carr (“The Deuce”) star in the new sci-fi series “The Peripheral” (Oct. 21), based on the bestselling novel by William Gibson. Set in two different timelines, it tells the story of a young woman struggling to hold together her broken family in a post-apocalyptic America who discovers a secret technology that gives her a window into an alternate future. It comes from “Westworld” creators Lisa Joy and Jonathan Nolan.

Going way back in time, Bella Ramsey (“Game of Thrones”) stars in “Catherine Called Birdy” (Oct. 7), a movie directed by Lena Dunham (“Girls”) about a spirted 14-year-old girl in medieval England, from a once-rich family that’s fallen on hard times and who yearns for a life beyond being married off to the highest bidder. The coming-of-age comedy is adapted from the acclaimed 1994 novel by Karen Cushman.

Prime Video is also adding recent movies like “Downton Abbey: A New Era” (Oct. 28) and “The Northman” (Oct. 11), and has exclusive rights to NFL Thursday Night Football every week.
